TIMUR LUKAS Atelier

Mon Muellerschoen and Timur Lukas are curating the exhibition ‘Fragments of a Fragile Future’ and present 16 positions by artists from Munich and Augsburg who deal with this challenging topic in different ways.

The title ‘Fragments of a Fragile Future’ addresses the fragility and uncertainty of our time. ‘Fragile’ refers to vulnerability, while “Fragments” emphasises the fact that the future is recognisable in parts, but not yet fully comprehensible. The title conveys a sense of incompleteness and potential danger, which emphasises the often fragile and complex aspects of our present and future.
The exhibition reflects various dimensions of this theme, from the individual fragility of future prospects, social divisions and the destruction of the environment. The variety of artistic works ranges from subtle drawings and paintings that use fragile strokes to address the uncertainty of the future with fragile strokes, to photographs that deal with the effects of the overexploitation of natural resources and human intervention in nature. These works illustrate the fragility of our ecosystems and the far-reaching consequences of human activity.

In addition, some works focus on the human image, attempts to find answers to a future characterised by technological, social and existential changes. The exhibition illuminates how fragments of an uncertain future are already visible in the present and what challenges we still face. The two curators felt it was important to choose a topic that affects us all, albeit to different degrees. With their expertise and knowledge of the local art scene and their many years of experience as curators, they not only want to raise questions with this exhibition, but also contribute to a deeper understanding of the current challenges and their possible solutions.
